Therapy built around you, not a formula
There is no single right way to do therapy. What helps one person can feel wrong for another. That is why my approach is trauma informed, strengths based, and collaborative, and why I tailor the tools to your unique needs and goals.
Three ideas that guide my work
Trauma informed. I understand how past experiences can shape the way you think, feel, and respond today. Sessions prioritize safety, choice, and pacing, so you stay in control of what you share.
Strengths based. You have gotten through hard things. We start with what is already working and build on it, instead of focusing only on what is wrong.
Collaborative. You are the expert on your life. We set goals together, check in on how it's going, and adjust the plan as you change.
The tools I draw from
I integrate evidence based approaches, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT looks at how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connect. We spot unhelpful patterns, test them, and practice new responses. It is often used for anxiety and depression.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT helps you make room for difficult emotions instead of fighting them, and move toward what matters most to you, even when things are hard.
Solution Focused Therapy. This approach clarifies what you want to be different and builds on your strengths and past successes. It keeps the work practical and forward moving.
How we choose what fits
In our first sessions we talk about what you are hoping for and what has or hasn't helped before. From there we choose the mix of approaches that fits you. If something isn't working, tell me and we change course.
What a typical session looks like
- We check in on how you are doing and what's on your mind
- We work on the goal you chose, using conversation and practical tools
- We close with something simple to try before we meet again
Online, across California
Sessions are held by secure video from wherever you feel most comfortable. I see clients located in California.
Questions people ask
Which type of therapy is best for me?
There isn't one best option. We choose together based on your goals, your history, and what feels useful. You can change course at any time.
Do I have to do homework?
Sometimes I'll suggest something small to try between sessions. It is always an invitation, never a requirement.
What does evidence based mean?
It means the methods have been studied and shown to help many people. I adapt them to you instead of applying them rigidly.
Ready to see if it feels like a fit?
The first session is a conversation. You can ask me how I work and decide whether we are a match.
